Seasoned with Sunshine

Plantable Sunshine and Spreadable Joy

Sunshine Daffodil 1

Here it is!

My very first blog post! I’ve been dreaming up this little piece of the internet for months, and I am so excited to finally make it visible to the rest of you. I hope you’ll come often, and stay awhile!

Another plus: my parents are visiting this week, and they brought me a little bit of sunshine to brighten this cold Michigan winter!

Plantable Sunshine

For as long as I can remember, the daffodil has been my favorite flower. There is something captivating about their golden blossoms, spreading sunshine and joy in unexpected places. When I was little, my parents used to go to old homesteads and dig up daffodils by the bucketfuls to bring back and transplant at our farm. We had a whole hillside and multiple flower beds that were thick with them.

Over the winter, we would often forget where we had planted the new plants. Come spring, it was so exciting to find their green tender shoots popping up out of the ground – and in greater quantity than the year before! Soon after, the hill would be ablaze with bright, sunshiny blooms. There always seemed to be more – no matter how many we picked!

Spreadable Joy

It makes me think of joy… It spreads so easily when we share it with a willing heart. And even in the winters of life, it can still grow unnoticed. Then once again it breaks forth in radiance, spreading sunshine to every precious person it comes in contact with.

Whatever your interest and journey in life, I hope that this blog can be a little bit of sunshine in your life. That through it’s different topics, recipes, lifestyle and family focuses, we can together find joy in healthy living. And as always, may your day be seasoned with sunshine!
